Mobile Spending

(Stockholm, Sweden) – How much do you spend on mobile phone services? According to Wireless World Forum the average 10-year-old will spend almost $30,000 on mobile services in a lifetime and the youth market is shaping mobile technology markets. Youth spending on mobile services passed the $100 bln mark in 2006. By the time today's 10-year-old turns 35, the consumer will have spent more than half of the $30,000 worth of mobile services purchased in a lifetime.

Mobility on the Run

(Stockholm, Sweden) – Two days ago we helped an employee to buy a new laptop and it was an exciting experience. Except for the fact that there are about a hundred computers to choose from the technology has made a great leap forward in less than two years. Now every laptop is equipped with Dual core, huge memory capabilities and great storage space. The most significant though is the fact that all computers come with WiFi.

This “mobilification” is driving the market towards more and more mobile solutions. This is an excellent pull factor for the companies controlling the wireless infrastructure. More and more people find need to be connected all the time..anywhere anyplace…and the laptops allow this but the providers don’t. Well, 3G is suppose to have a great impact, but we think that WiFi/WiMax will have a greater impact whenever the right conditions will be there. The question is not if but rather when we will be able to access a city WiFi net free of charge. Google has done it at their city-headquaters.

What do you think?

World of Technology

(Stockholm, Sweden) – It is amusing to notice peoples behaviour at firsthand by doing field research. We have been spending time in a less developed Internet and telecom market within the EU. The first thing that strikes you is the lack of technology in peoples lives. The only prominent technology that everyone seems to use is the mobile phone. Compared with more advanced countries you will notice PDA´s, MP3 players, PSP etc.

When asking people why they don’t use more technology they say that they don’t want to. They don’t have the time. The time is spent on meeting people. Europe can be divided into two areas. The north and the south. The habits differ substantially depending on which region you are in. But that does not mean that the technology do not have a place in southern countries. It just means that companies have to give it another meaning. Market it differently so it fits their lives.

Do you agree with our observation? What are your thoughts?
